The Eaton Rapids varsity girls basketball team rolled a 61-26 win over the visiting Big Reds of Lansing Sexton on Jan. 31. The game started as expected, with the Greyhounds jumping out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter. During the second quarter, the defense stepped up its intensity and a few transition baskets opened the game up, leading 36-8 at the break. In the second half, all members of the Greyhounds roster were able to get significant minutes, and the home team was able to cruise to the win. Leading the way for the Greyhounds was Emily Cline, with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Peyton Benjamin added 9 points, Loralei Berry had 6, Hailey Lewis had 6, Shelby Warner had 5, Are’onah Rogers had 4, Kyra Acker had 3, Megan Huisman had 2, Adi Sysum had 2 and Serenity Horton had 1. On Feb. 4, the Lady Greyhounds took on a tough Waverly Warriors squad but came away with a 53-43 win. The team was set to play Lansing Catholic on Friday, Feb. 7.
