The last three years have gone pretty well for the Eaton Rapids girls soccer team. The Lady Greyhounds won their only league titles in program history in those seasons, and they hope to do it again this year.

“We are off to a good start with a dominating win over perennially ranked Division 4 Lenawee Christian and a mercy win over league opponent Charlotte,” third year head coach Andrew Crow said. “We expect to go undefeated in CAAC White again this season and complete a four-year CAAC White Champion streak. This group of seniors has never lost a CAAC White league game.”

Last season the team went 10-6-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the CAAC White. So far this season they are 2-1 overall, including a 9-1 mercy over Charlotte.

“We are a possession team so we spend a lot of time working on quick passing and quality first touch,” Crow said. “The girls are given a lot of freedom to make decisions, and the expectation is for them to play fast and connect to force our opponents to get out of position. Our goals are lofty.  We expect to win the CAAC White. We are hosting districts and fully expect to lift the trophy on our home field.  Our goal is a regional championship and to be playing at DeMartin (Soccer Complex in the final four) in June.”

The team is led by senior captain Kennedie Crow, who is a two-time all-state player and is headed to Northwood University to continue her soccer career at the next level. Kyra Kennedy is another senior on the team, and she is committed to play at The University of Olivet. Hannah Garity, Lauren Mills and Kylie Alvarez are other key senior leaders for the team.

“Over the next couple weeks, we have a challenging non-conference schedule with Division 2 opponents Mason and St. Johns on our schedule along with league opponent Ionia,” Crow said. “We expect to play strong and come away with a couple of wins.  We are also playing in the Ovid-Elsie Invitational which is loaded with good teams.

In the win over Charlotte, Crow had four goals and two assists, Delaney Collins had three goals, Remie Ellis had two goals and three assists. Hannah Garity also had three assists and Chloe Look had one assist.
