Local golfer, and Charlotte native, Grant Snyder is very passionate about the sport of golf, so much so that he took matters into his own hands to search for the perfect putter, inventing the Purolla Putter.

“I am a big golfer, and I am big into putting, essentially I just started playing around with ideas,” Snyder said. “I am always keeping up with the latest trends and kind of had the idea of creating a putter that had a slight radius to the base rather than a flat surface. Essentially, what that does is hit the ball and rolls the golf ball sooner rather than skidding or hopping like a normal putter, like a flat faced putter might do, which leads to increased results, of accuracy and speed control.”

Snyder added that this journey began about a year-and-a-half ago; at which point he did a whole bunch of research on how to make putters better.

“There used to be a company that did something similar, so it is not a completely new idea, but it is a new take on that, I was just kind of thinking I could do that better,” he said. “I always wanted to be in the golf industry, and am very passionate about the sport, so I thought this would be an interesting way to improve. It started with me wanting to mess around for my own golf game. I have about 15-to-20 putters of different brands, sizes, and designs sitting in my office and I thought I could make one of these.”

His next step was to develop his first protype. A company out of California has helped with the engineering of the putter. Snyder added that they are in the seventh iteration of the putter; a limited amount of which are available for purchase as part of a pilot program. Feedback from the program will directly impact the final version of the putter.

“We are close to a final design and selling at retail,” Snyder said. “I felt it was time to get the putter in golfers hands, with the pilot program. They can get a putter and provide feedback and get a discount on the putter when it does launch.”

If everything goes well, he hopes to have the final version of the product by the end of this calendar year or very early in 2026.

“We have had a lot of positive feedback on the design, look, and feel of the putter prototype.” Snyder said. “I was the only one testing it, so that is why we did this step with more testers. I have it in about 20 peoples’ hands right now. Short putts are proving our theory and performing well, we still have some issues with longer putts and dialing that in in terms of forgiveness, so what we have now is probably not going to be the final design. As of now, I think with one more design tweak we can be where we want to be and hopefully from there we will be launching to retail.”
