Cochran Avenue begins to fill with people earlier and earlier each year on the Saturday of Frontier Days. Some people claim their spots at dawn, others take their chances, but everyone wants a good spot to watch the annual Frontier Days Parade.
This year, the fun gets underway at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 as the lights and sirens of the Charlotte Police Department lead a cast of hundreds down Lawrence and Cochran avenues.
Team One Chevrolet of Charlotte is sponsoring this year’s parade, which promises to be as good as ever.
Saturday morning’s festivities feature entertainment for the entire family. You will enjoy a variety of parade entries, including floats, horse drawn wagons, riders on horseback, high school bands and clowns. You will also see fire trucks, old tractors, antique cars, and much more.
The 2014 Frontier Days King, Queen, Prince and Princess will travel in mule-drawn wagons and a special car will carry this year’s Grand Marshals. This year Charlotte Frontier Days is honored to introduce Joe and Lori Pray as 2014 Grand Marshals. The Pray Family has a history of service to the Charlotte community and Joe and Lori have played an important role in that history. It is in recognition of their many contributions that they were selected to be this year’s Grand Marshals.
Frontier Days is a celebration of Charlotte as a community. The Frontier Days Board would like to thank everyone who helps to put this festival together. A special thank you goes out to the Charlotte Police Department, Fire Department, and MDOT for all they do to make our festival successful.
Charlotte Frontier Days is a weekend of fun, food, and family entertainment. Hope to see you all there.
